Apex Legends | How to Remove Or Disable Shadows

If you want to run Apex Legends on a Low-end PC, knowing how to remove or disable shadows will come in clutch! This is specifically helpful for low-end rigs that use entry-level graphics cards, processors, and lower memory. Make sure to cross-reference with the rig used in this setting to draw a better comparison.

I myself want to land my shots properly without sacrificing much. The only thing I do want to sacrifice is the shadows. That is because they take a lot of system resources, and I would rather not have them than to set them to a lower value. this guide will hopefully help you do the same and make your performance better.

How to Remove/Disable Shadows in Apex Legends (Steam)

  1. Head over to the folder called “saved games” in Apex Legends save files.
  2. Then look for a folder called “respawn”.
  3. Now open the folder called  “Apex” inside it.
  4. Then open the “local” folder and do the next steps.
  5. Open “videoconfig”, and change the value of “setting.csm_enabled” to “0”.
  6. Save the file, and go to the properties of the file. Check “read-only” and apply, then OK.

If you follow the instructions carefully, the shadows will be completely disabled/removed from the game. This will give you some extra Frame Per Second (usually 10-12FPS).

NOTE: Remember to change your video settings in-game BEFORE doing the above steps. That is because changing the settings file will overwrite any of the other settings you will make after this.

The above fix is not just for Low-End PCs but any system. If you want the Frame Rate Edge over your opponent, you can apply this to your high-end systems as well. Take a backup of the original settings file before making the changes. In case of any issues, simply restore the file and you should be good to go!
