What the game is about?

The game is set after the events of Tales of Borderlands where you play as the new vault hunter, who along with Lilith (one of the player characters from the first borderland) and The Crimson Raiders must stop Troy and Tyreen Calypso (the game antagonists) who have formed a dangerous cult called The children of the vault to gain the possessions of the vaults beyond the planet Pandora.

Gameplay

The game is a loot driven first-person shooter. It can be played alone or in a four-person co-op. The game introduces four new playable characters, Amara, Moze, Zane, and FL4K. The game also features characters from previous games.

Players have to create a character from one of the four classes available Soldier, Siren, Assassin, and Hunter. Quests are given by the NPC’s which must be completed to gain experience, monetary rewards, and reward items. Players gain skill points after increasing a level which is spent on the skill tree.

Unlike previous Borderlands games where Players had only one unique skill for each character, Borderlands 3 features three unique skills for each playable character. The skills can be further enhanced by equipping augmentations (purchased through skill points as you level up).

The game features new combat maneuvers and abilities, now you can crouch-slide and mount walls for getting over smaller obstacles. Players can use the short barriers for cover which can get destroyed after a continuous onslaught by a weapon.

Borderlands 3 is going to have over a billion guns, most of which will be randomly generated with their own properties and surprises. Though what sort of weapons they are going to be we can’t say yet, but you can expect lots of elemental damage and explosions.

In Borderlands 3 you operate from a spacecraft called Sanctuary III which is used as a base. Players will be able to store, purchase, upgrade or recover their weapons, manage their inventory or launch side quests directly from the Sanctuary III.

The game is retaining the Split screen. The co-op mode has been improved, the previous Borderland games only took the host players progress into account. Which means if you paired with someone at a level way higher than you, then you would run into higher level enemies with your attacks not dealing some significant damage. Borderlands 3 features a full-on level syncing system for co-operative gameplay, which makes sure everyone gets similar challenges and rewards.

Gearbox has confirmed that Borderlands 3 will have integration with twitch streams. If you have the ECHOcast extension on twitch it will allow you to look at the inventory, skill tree, and vault hunter profile of the streamer. Borderlands 3 is also going to have a season pass and many editions of the game.

Borderlands removed from Epic store

The option to pre-order Borderlands 3 has been removed from the Epic store because of unknown reasons. A lot of publishers along with 2k removed their games from Epic’s download platform in an overnight. The game was supposed to be an Epic Store exclusive till April but now there is a possibility that 2k might launch the game on Steam as well, for they might be looking for multiple distributors. The digital version of the pc game, however, can be pre-ordered from the official Borderlands website. Click here to Pre-Order.

Overview

The game is an overall improvement of Borderlands 2, and it seems to check on everything that the fans wanted to see in the previous games. The game is just 3 months away from its release, and with E3 right around the corner, we can expect some more surprises from the developer.

Borderlands 2 despite being released way back in 2012, has more than a million unique users playing it every month which makes it understandable why Borderlands 3 is one of the most anticipated games this year. Gearbox has also released the mask of mayhem trailer which you can see by clicking below.
