MW2 has brought out nine different choices for players to try out and use in fights. Developers Infinity Ward have made sure that there is a healthy mix of old and new items, while still others have had their names changed for the latest edition. Thus, it can get confusing for players to keep track of what is what.

Claymore: A mine that blasts whenever enemies get near it due to getting triggered by motion and distance. A favorite of many players as it can remove a number of enemy soldiers together.

Throwing Knife: A single shot weapon which can be gotten back after the enemy dies and you can retrieve it then.

Frag Grenade: As mentioned, it will throw damaging fragments after blasting, which will inflict heavy damage on opponents. However, make sure that you are well clear of the blast radius so as not to reduce your own health.

Thermite Grenade: A sticky grenade that catches on fire when touched or tampered with, and can be a deadly weapon when used intelligently.

Molotov Cocktail: A classic of the game and real-life battles, Molotov Cocktails can be thrown over long distances and will lit up the area all around them on fire once it breaks.

Drill Charge: A new addition to the CoD introduced in Modern Warfare 2. It uses a thermal charge to get into surfaces, meaning opponents on the other side will take heavy damage. Therefore, you can take down enemies without actually coming face to face with them.

Proximity Mine: Another mine which gets activated when enemies are near, before it bursts out into the air and blasts to inflict extreme hurt on opponents and the environment around them.

C4: Another classic weapon which has been an ever-present over the years of the franchise. You can simply place it on any area and make it explode through a remote button from far away.

Sticky Grenade: A timebound exploding weapon which can stick onto any walls or the ground. The weapon will blast after the countdown is complete.

Thus, that is all players have to know regarding the various lethal side weapons in the MW2. There are several combinations to try among them, alongside choosing what kind of weapon to use at what point of time.
