Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Ultimate Guide For PC Settings

The configurations of a new game are always one of the most important parts before playing. It is the same with Modern Warfare 2, which marks the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Therefore, it is integral to know how to best set up your system to enjoy the game to the fullest.

Given the fact that there is a multitude of options regarding any one thing, all of it could be confusing. Of course, there will be some time needed to master all of them and decide which are most suitable for you.

That is why the following guide will help players in understanding the must-know sections of the game and how to fix them.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – The settings to know

Of course, there is a very long list of items to tweak around and figure out in the game. However, not all of them will be equally helpful or even needed in the day-to-day action. There are some very important ones that you will have to be keenly aware of right from the first day.

Therefore, the guide focuses on the most important aspects of the Settings menu. Additionally, I would advise to not use the Settings from inside the match, but rather do it beforehand from the main menu.

How to search

The F key has a whole new function in the game now as it will give you the chance to look for any other setting while being present in the main menus. However, you can also look for it beside the “Save/Remove” option in the Quick Settings bar.

This is a very helpful addition to the game as it saves a lot of time in going through separate menus every time.

How to access Quick Settings

As mentioned above, the game has a beneficial Quick Settings menu which can hold a maximum of 15 choices.

Some are given automatically, including the likes of Master Volume, Sensitivity, Brightness, and more. You can choose any other option, press the “Save from Quick Settings” option which will add that particular setting to the Quick Settings. Additionally, you will also be able to view how many slots are empty for future purposes.

CoD: Modern Warfare 2 – How to handle controls

The Mouse will be your central aiming option when using the PC. Make sure that you get the Sensitivity and Calibration right because it will have a big effect on how you move your sights in the game. The Gameplay menu holds more options for you which would be instrumental in determining a range of things.

There are several variations for the Sprint option which include Tactical, Automatic, and normal.

  • All of the sprints can be customized depending on whether you want to press once, twice, or even toggle in between them
  • Additionally, you can choose to keep it set at Automatic which will reduce your load of taking care of this matter
  • However, if there are problems using the Tactical Sprint, you can default back to the normal settings.

Another important fact of the game is the mantling, which means holding onto ledges whenever falling. It is generally kept at Partial, meaning you will do mantling once you are in close proximity to a ledge.

  • However, there are also options of Grounded and Automatic Mantle, all of which can work together
  • I used to keep them off when I was doing my own stunts, so as to differentiate between other situations.

An added benefit kept for PC players is the Walk Speed.

  • This is adjustable while playing with consoles, given there is a joystick. However, that feature is void while using the keyboard
  • Therefore, the game has the facility of increasing or decreasing your walk speed, which will determine how fast your character moves in the game
  • It can be of great help when you want to play stealthily and when you want to run.

The Keybinds menu can allow you to select button(s) and assign them different functions. It also works for the mouse as well.

How to use the controller

As usual, you will have to be aware of Sensitivity alongside knowing the inner workings of the default presets. There are a great number of options for accessibility for different strata of players who are playing.

One key facility you must be mindful of is when to give priority to interact or reload

  • It is often set to the same button, so you will have to choose which one to implement when
  • As a general rule, the options overlap one another in the normal running of the game.

Another major fact that you have to be aware of is parachuting. By default, it is set to open on its own after a certain passage of time through the air. However, if you keep it disabled, then you will have greater movement ability in the air, but the timing of deploying the parachute has to be key.

Call of Duty: MW 2 – How to set Display, Audio, and View

There are some inside details that players should know when it comes to getting the best out of the system through the game.

The V-Sync selection will let you choose the frame rate depending upon your refresh rate. You can choose your own limits during gameplay, menu, and even off-screen so as not to cause the game to stutter or break up.

I had the Spot Cache and the related Shadows turned on while increasing or decreasing the Shadow Map Resolution and quality. This can be done when there is quick running of FPS and gives better stability.

The final point is surrounding the resolution of the finer texts, but that will be consuming a lot of graphics and RAM. However, there is a big amount of difference in the usage of Medium or High graphics. Therefore, make sure that you are aware of the PC’s settings before choosing either.

The Field of View (FOV) option is something that you will have to adjust manually, depending on how much vision you want on the screen. There is a fine line when it comes to increasing or decreasing the FOV and you will have to test it out for yourself.

There are several options here as explained below:

You can choose to keep subtitles on or off which can be done through the Interface menu.

When it comes to Channels, it is set to “Lobby” so it will connect with the main channel whenever a new match begins. However, if you wish to stay in your own channels, then switch it off.

  • There is also the option of muting yourself when joining or playing matches, kind of what happens in real life during online meetings
  • There are also sound effects that you can keep on or off depending upon whether you want to hear them during the matches.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 –  Interface, Account, and Network

There are many Accessibility options for players in the game.

  • You can choose the size of in-game text and subtitles.
  • There are choices for colors and how to tone them down or select specific ones, alongside choosing different ones for different menus.
  • The shape of the mini-map can be alternated between circular and square.
  • You can set the kind of alerts you want when it comes to performances related to hardware and connection.

The developers have also added the feature of being able to witness the list of the previous 200 players being blocked in the game. There is also the option of filtering out profanity and other bad effects that can jar up your gameplay.

Thus, that is all the details in-depth you would want to know about the new game. There are a lot of customizable options that you will discover as you play along. It will take some time to choose the best options for you but time is on your side.
