The new season of Destiny 2‘s annual summer Solstice is underway in full flow. There have been many returning activities and firearms, alongside new introductions in Bonfire Bash and currencies.
Among the weapons, a favorite has come back in the form of the Compass Rose Shotgun. The Solar Precision shotgun was first launched in 2021’s Season of the Splicer, and fans were quick to praise its efficiency in Crucible activities.
In that regard, the following guide will tell players everything they need to know about the Shotgun and its perks in the event.
Destiny 2: What is the new Shotgun?
As mentioned above, this is the second year of Compass Rose in the game overall. However, this time there are even greater perk options alongside a new Basic Origin Trait known as Dream Work.
Therefore, it will only drop with the Dream Work in the game. The way of working for this trait is to overflow the magazine by using the reserves one time per reload which was preceded by assists or assisted killer blows.

Compass Rose inflicts Solar damage and there’s a possibility of getting it through the new Incandescent perk. As always, this perk uses scorch on enemies around you like its used in many Solar 3.0 builds.
Therefore, it is a great choice for the Crucible activities. The Compass Rose can only be gotten through finishing the Bonfire Bash activity in the Solstice of Heroes.
However, as always, it will depend on the RNG whether you actually receive it or not. Once you defeat the Heat Drinker, go and interact with the fire which will give you rewards, like you would normally get with chests.
Players can only get the Compass Rose during the Solstice event, meaning after August 9, it will no longer be available in the game until 2023.
Destiny 2: Compass Rose Shotgun perks
As is the case with almost all the Shotguns in Destiny 2, the most beneficial perks for the weapon are more forgiving in PvE when compared to PvP.
The PvP god roll will have Full Choke and Accurized Rounds, which screw the pellets tight alongside better the range respectively. For PvE, Assault Mag and Barrel Shroud are solid choices, with Smallbore and Tactical Mag being great alternatives.
Players looking for the weapon’s god roll will have to get the following drops that includes the necessary perks:
- Lead from Gold/Incandescent: A great choice for eliminating PvE mobs.
- Quickdraw/Snapshot Sights or Vorpal Weapon: One of the strongest perks, which can be used to easily beat other players and those who have active Supers in the Crucible.
- Surplus/Vorpal Weapon: A strong roll for the weapon when used as a boss DPS weapon.
Thus, there is everything you need to know about the Compass Rose Shotgun. It is a great weapon to have in the summer event, and even during the normal game’s endgame activities.
