Destiny 2: Lightfall – Illuminated Torment Challenge Guide for RoN

Players have been enjoying the Root of Nightmares raid in Destiny 2‘s Lightfall expansion. There are a lot of significant challenges and challenging enemies to take down on The Master difficulty. You will encounter challenges connected to each encounter in the Root of Nightmares raid.

The culmination of all these challenges ends in players receiving the ‘Dream Warrior’ seal for the raid itself. The following guide will help players finish the first challenge linked to the first encounter.

Destiny 2: Lightfall – How to complete Illuminated Torment Challenge in Root of Nightmares

The first encounter is Cataclysm in the Root of Nightmares raid. The Illuminated Torment challenge will have a fireteam with six members tasked with taking down Tormentors while solely having the Field of Light buff. Of course, you will have to finish this challenge on Master difficulty as is the norm for every such challenge in the future.

Destiny 2 - Lightfall - Defeating Tormentor

Cataclysm needs players to get the Field of Light buffs from one platform to another. While this is going on, all fireteam members will receive the Sweeping Terror debuff timer, which will wipe you after it counts down.

That means players must watch for a couple of Psions within a bubble throughout and take them down fast. You will come up against a Tormentor, and after killing it off, the timer will start over again while an entire sequence of seeds will move the whole process to the next level.

You will have to finish it in three separate areas, and players must carry the Field of Light buff as they defeat Tormentors, which will need cooperation from all team members.

  • Five of the members have to add clear enemies, which includes finishing off Tormentors and Psions.
  • Two members must be on Tormentor spawning duty and assist adds when they do not have their primary task.

After the Psions are gone, these two players must coordinate with the seed runner to get the Field of Light buff. After you are done, take down the Tormentor with the buff and do it a couple more times.

The most important thing to remember is that the final blows must be hit with the buff on. Otherwise, you will have to repeat the process.

Destiny 2: Lightfall – Best build (s) to complete the Illuminated Torment challenge

Destiny 2 - Lightfall - Orb runner

With 20 units under full power, players will face the challenge, so Solar and Void resistance mods are crucial. Have the seed runner on Icarus Dash Warlock with an Eager’s Edge Sword at all times, which will help you remain mobile across all the arenas as they join the seeds together.

  • The remaining members can have the Solar Machine Gun with the Solar surge or Commemoration Void Machine Gun.
  • The Starfire Protocol, Exotic chest piece, is perfect for removing ads and hitting bosses with the Well of Radiance Super, and can close down Barrier Champions and Tormentors.
  • The big difference is more number of Barrier Champions, which you will come across after removing Psions.

For champions, my team and I use a Pulse Rifle like BXR or Arbalest for easy shield breaks. Then you can clean the champion up with any nuke grenade or something down that line. You can also Ignite the champions, and the will be nuked before deploying the shields in the first place.

Thus, that is all the information players will need regarding the Illuminated Torment challenge relating to the Cataclysm encounter in Root of Nightmares. You can complete it quickly, with more challenges for the other encounters coming in the future weeks.
