Destiny 2: Season of the Deep – How To Do Fishing And Get Fishing Tackle

The new season of Destiny 2 is now here, with players discovering new areas, missions, weapons, and more. Given the involvement of water in Season of the Deep, it is no surprise that there is fishing involved.

The minigame will have you getting the Fishing Tackle in order to catch fish in the EDZ, Savathun’s Throne World, and Nessus. Players can bring their fish to the H.E.L.M. in order to get awards from the aquarium. In that regard, the following guide will help players learn how to fish and get the bait along with other important stuff.

Destiny 2: Season of the Deep – How to do fishing and get Fishing Tackle

In order to begin their fishing career, players have to get their hands on the Fishing Tackle. You will have to make your way through the different activities and missions naturally. Players have to finish the Descent story and a Salvage activity.

Once they are done, you will have to finish the Operation Thunderbolt mission which will give players the Deep Dive activity. Afterward, talk to Sloane present near the H.E.L.M. projector, and it will provide you with the Gone Fishin’ quest. This will have you interacting with Suraya Hawthorne at the Tower. She is the one who will present you with the Fishing Tackle and guide to get bait.

Once players have some amount of bait ready, head over to the EDZ, where there is a fishing area as indicated in the map. Press E to throw the line and E when you realize a fish has caught the tackle. You will see the ‘perfect catch’ quickly flash by and scoop up the fish where it is now ashore.

The other fishing spots mentioned above are in the Miasma (Savathun’s Throne World) and the Cistern’s radiolaria lake (Nessus).

One thing that we have noticed already is the fact that the fishing areas vanish when there are public events going on. What that does is allow you to finish the public events fast and get bait that will be helpful in fishing later on.

Players will also notice something called Focused Fishing, which is a bar present to the left of your screen. It will increase as you and different players are fishing at the same spot and managing to find the legendary purple fishes.

With the bar going up, you will get more legendary purple and exotic yellow fishes. Of course, Focused Fishing does not occur when public events are live due to the fishing spots going away.

After players have a decent quantity of fish at their disposal, they can go to the H.E.L.M. and place them within the aquarium through the central tank for the awards. These can be classified into the type and color of fish you have caught. Blue and Green fishes will reward you with Glimmer and Seasonal Reputation.

Legendary purple fishes will present you with a Deep Engram, a Seasonal Reckoning weapon, or a regular Legendary weapon for every fish you have with you. Finally, the Exotic yellow fish also give you Exotics and Ascendant Shards, but it is the most difficult to get them.

Destiny 2: Season of the Deep – How to get bait for fishing

Since the importance of bait is high in this activity, you will need to know how to get the most amount of bait throughout the season. We have found some places where bait is available with Deep Dives giving 15 bait, destination materials with one bait each material, playlist activities giving 10 bait, patrols having two bait, public events rewarding six bait, and Salvage giving 18 bait.

The quantity of bait will change occasionally, but a combination of the aforementioned stuff will be the most helpful in this area. Since there will be pauses to your fishing activities, that is another great time to maximize the collection of bait.

Thus, that is all the information players will need regarding the newly introduced fishing activity in the Season of the Deep. It can be a great source of collecting rewards if you are patient and persistent throughout all of this.
