Dying Light 2 – Best Graphics Settings for PC

These graphics settings for Dying Light 2 will certainly help you in getting slightly more FPS, even with a medium end system. For example, the GPU used here is a 1050Ti, but yours can be 1660, 2060, or higher. Hence these settings can help you in overall performance.

Dying Light 2 – Best Graphics Settings for PC

The graphics settings options for Dying Light 2 are much less than its previous version. But the developers have managed to include some good options within a limited number of choices:

Advanced Video Settings

First of all, set the advanced video settings to custom, then do the required changes inside the tweaking menu:

Render Mode

D3D 11 (I found this the most stable Direct 3D version, and I can vouch for it as well. At least for an entry-level GPU like 1050ti)

Asynchronous Compute

On (This option is basically for the CPU, and it helps distribute the workload over multiple CPU units)

Game Screen Size

100 (This is the most consistent and best viewpoint in terms of screen size)

Sharpness

75 (This is completely optional and depends on personal choice)

Field of View

10 (Turning this higher can cause some FPS drops in medium-level systems)

Anti-Aliasing Quality

High (Gets rid of jagged edges by turning this to high. For extra FPS, you can set this to medium also)

Motion Blur

None (Entry level and medium systems like i3, i5 7th gen, should avoid motion blur at all costs)

Particle quality

High (This is demanding on GPU and CPU but totally worth it for Dying Light 2)

Contact Shadows Quality

High (I keep this high just for a visual experience. You can set this too low if you are struggling with frame rates)

Ambient Occlusion Quality

High

Global Illumination Quality

Medium

Reflection Quality – High

Fog Quality

Low (This takes up a lot of frames; hence keep this to low unless you want to take some awesome screenshots!)

System Settings Used To test

Here is the rig setup I used to test Dying Light 2:

  • GPU: GTX 1050Ti 4GB OC
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
  • OS: Windows 10 64 Bit
  • Memory: 32 GB DDR4 RAM
  • STORAGE: M.2 SSD 500GB

System Requirements for Dying Light 2

You should also verify if you are meeting the system specs for Dying Light 2 in the first place. Your goal should be to remain in the middle tier of systems or at least the entry-level. This will ensure that you can run the game from your end:

Minimum:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows® 7
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-9100 / AMD Ryzen 3 2300X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon™ RX 560 (4GB VRAM)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

Recommended:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows® 10
  • Processor: AMD / Intel CPU running at 3.6 GHz or higher: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel i5-8600K or newer
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2060 6GB or AMD RX Vega 56 8GB or newer
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

Here is the official release for system settings to run Dying Light 2:

Dying Light 2 System Requirements

Dying Light 2 Tested on GTX 750, 1650 super, and RX 570

Here are the benchmark results for Dying Light 2 on a GTX 750ti, 1650 super, and an RX 570:

  • GTX 750ti – Low FSR Quality @720p – DirectX 11 > Average FPS recorded was 35
  • GTX 1650 super – High FSR Quality @1080p – DirectX 11 > Average FPS recorded was 41-45
  • RX 570 – High FSR Quality @1080p – DirectX 11 > Average FPS recorded was 50

Results and tips for more FPS

In terms of the results for these benchmarks, I have already listed the frame rates for 750ti, 1650 super, and RX 570 above. Here are the results for GTX 1050ti:

Options Results (FPS)
GTX 1050ti 41-45 FPS (with the above settings)
GPU Usage 93%
CPU Usage 28%

I can safely say that the game did quite well for an entry-level graphics card like 1050ti. To get more frames, you should dial down the textures to medium and shadow settings to low. Other than that, I don’t think you would be required to tweak any other settings.
