FF7 REMAKE INTERGRADE – Performance Fixes

Check out below to troubleshoot any issues faced while playing FF7 REMAKE INTERGRADE and know how to run it smoothly.

Performance Guide For FF7 REMAKE INTERGRADE

You’ve undoubtedly noticed that the cutscenes in this port of the game stutter a lot, but there’s an easy remedy for that.

How do I stop the game from stuttering?

Enable DirectX 11

If the game is still running, close it first. Right-click the game in your Steam library and select properties.

Select Launch Options from the General tab and type “-d3d11” (no quotation marks). You can now close this window and relaunch the game, which should now be (largely) stutter-free.

That’s all there is to it. This option forces the game to run in DirectX 11 rather than DirectX 12. The stutters with DX12 are most likely due to improper VRAM management.

The issue appears to be limited to GPUs with more than 8GB of VRAM.

Notes:
  • This, according to one user, disables Vsync, which can be turned back on via your GPU’s control panel.
  • Unfortunately, this setting has the unintended consequence of stopping HDR from working.
  • If you have a suitable monitor, you can choose between HDR and a more consistent framerate based on your own preferences.
  • This has no effect on the graphics quality.
  • This has no bearing on accomplishments.

This will also disable V-sync, although you may force it for the executable using your GPU control panel. I’m shocked they didn’t include a benchmark as they did in Final Fantasy XIV. As a result, we’ll be able to test our system before launching the game.

  • I know that HDR improves the game’s appearance, so it’s a difficult decision to make.
  • Despite having been around for almost 7-8 years, DirectX 12 continues to demonstrate that it is inferior to DX11.
  • With this turned on, achievements work great.

Alternatively, you may simply change the FPS to 60+ in the game’s system settings and play without stuttering. Other factors can cause the game to lag, but this remedy has been known and tested to work since the game’s release on EGS.

If you’re encountering technical difficulties with FF7R

To eliminate Depth of Field, I used FF7hook to force TAA (gross) and per-object motion blur. I also like the Flawless Widescreen option, which I use to disable the vignette, Dynamic Resolution Scaling (the source of all stuttering), and modify the FOV.

I sit in front of a 55-inch TV, and the default FOV makes me sick if I play for too long.

With the settings I prefer, RTSS indicates a constant 120fps, with the GPU at 100% but undervolted. I haven’t observed any stuttering, but I can tell the DSR is very forceful, as is the TAA, although I’ve read that folks who remove TAA have trouble.

  • As a result, I wouldn’t advocate turning off TAA and instead opting for milder settings.
  • Set the frame time display to number + graph to obtain a much better idea of how well your system and software are doing.
  • It obviously has strange performance flaws, but it’s something that happens all the time nowadays, even in major games, which is a shame.

Screen Tearing At 60 FPS

To get rid of screen tearing at 60 frames per second, go to Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, and then Program Settings. After you’ve found or added Final Fantasy VII Remake (ff7remake .exe), scroll down and replace the following:

  • Prefer Maximum Performance in Power Management Mode.
  • Texture Filtering- Quality – High Performance
  • Trilinear Optimization for Texture Filtering: – On.
  • Triple Buffering should be enabled.
  • Vertical Sync should be turned on.

Cutscenes and fighting in the opening movie will run smoothly at 60 frames per second, and if you have a more powerful video card, you can choose a higher frame rate.

Final Notes

On my 4k LG OLED (55 inches, 3840×2160 native res), using DLDSR in Nvidia Control Panel set to 2.25x (NOT DSR vanilla) for ANY game has never guided me wrong. FF7R isn’t any different. So far today, I’ve been playing it at 6144 x 3240 borderless windowed, with V-sync on, low latency mode on, and max framerate of 60fps.

  • And outside of the NV control panel, I’ve got the Flawless Widescreen app running in the background, which I’ve set to disable DRS and TAA, and remove the Vignette filter because that shit makes me nauseous.
  • And the end product is, well, PHENOMENAL.

So, with the PC settings described above, you’ll get a GORGEOUS 4k output with the type of AA that only AI-driven super-sampling could accomplish, and even better, flawless frame pacing at a solid 60ps with full HDR compatibility.

  • Note: I ended up leaving Per Object Motion Blur on because I prefer the effect with a wide FOV and a frame rate of at least 120fps.
  • It looks a lot better in action than it does in these photos.
  • But in any case, getting FF7r operating at high fps, stutter-free, and with far more fidelity than the PS5 version wasn’t too tough.

So again, if you’re experiencing troubles and can’t find a solution there, feel free to contact me about this game in particular. When it comes to maximizing every aspect of video games with the gear I have, I’m a great believer. Enjoy and have fun with the game!
