Before NG+
Best Armor For Kratos
The best armor in GOW before NG+ is the Valkyrie Set, an epic armor set. This armor grants increase in strength, defense, runic, vitality, and cooldown.
Full upgraded armor with no enchantments
Skills
- Warrior’s Unstoppable Aura has a low perk activation chance and it prevents interruptions by enemy attacks, on any successful hit. It becomes available when wearing the Cuirass of the Valkyrie.
- Refreshing Light has a low perk activation chance and it instantly refreshes all Runic Attack cooldowns on any successful Runic Attack kill. It is available when wearing the Gauntlets of the Valkyrie.
- Arcane Runic has a high perk activation chance and it grants a Blessing of RUNIC when using a Runic Attack. It becomes available when wearing the Waist Guard of the Valkyrie.
How To Get
- You can obtain the Cuirass of the Valkyrie by defeating Hildr in Niflheim.
- The Gauntlets of the Valkyrie are acquired by defeating Gondul in Muspelheim.
- You can acquire the Waist Guard of the Valkyrie by defeating Olrun in Alfheim.
Best Armor For Atreus
Legendery Runic Vestment (The best according to me)
It greatly increases Atreus’s recovery speed from enemy attacks.
Effects
- Healthstone Assist- Atreus will sometimes find Healthstones when Kratos is injured
- Healthstone Enhancement- Increases Healthstone potency
- Runic Attunement- After using a Runic Summon, arrows will deal additional Status damage for 8 seconds

After NG+
Best Armor For Kratos
The best armor after NG+ in GOW is the Zeus Armor, a perfect set of armor only available in God of War’s New Game Plus. Each piece has three enchantment sockets.
Full upgraded armor with enchantments
Skill
Glass Ballista: Massively increases the damage of Kratos’s standard attack, but also intensifies the damage he receives. Both effects grow significantly as more pieces of the Zeus armor set are worn.
How To Get
- Acquire the Cuirass of Zeus by defeating Sigrun in Midgard.
- You can get the Gauntlets of Zeus by defeating Gondul in Muspelheim.
- Obtain the War Belt of Zeus by defeating Hildr in Niflheim.
Best Armor For Atreus
This is no doubt Tunic of the Champion. For master of all disciplines: Massively increases Atreus’s melee damage and recovery speed, and decreases arrow recharge time.
Effects
- The Legendary Fighter has all the perks of the Legendary Fighter Tunic armor.
- Legendary Runic has all the perks of the Legendary Runic Vestment armor.
- The Legendary Sharpshooter has all the perks of the Legendary Sharpshooter Garb armor.

Crafted from Brok or Sindri.
Crafting Cost: 136500 Hacksilver, 24 Skap Slag
How to get Skap Slag?
There are a few ways players can get Skap Slag:
- Open red caskets
- Reach milestones in the story
- Close Realm Tears
- Complete Trials in Muspelheim
For a lot of players, the easiest way to collect Skap Slag will be to simply progress through the story, unlocking caskets along the way.
Some Other Tips
Another thing, you will want to MAX OUT LUCK on your NG+ armor outside of boss fights. The reason why is everything is stupid expensive in NG+. So you won’t have to hard grind Niflheim for hacksilver.
I highly recommend you increase your luck as much as possible on you general armor. If you do God of War for ether bracers or waist, you can get level 11 with your stats, that is more important. Also it will max out all stats.
