There are a number of achievements in God of War Ragnarok which is linked to players earning certain trophies upon completion. It follows the idea behind the 2018 prequel, and the developers have kept the basic tenets of the mega-franchise pretty similar.
Kratos and Atreus are on the final leg of their journey to find the conclusion to this epic Norse mythological tale. Players have been wading through the various puzzles and mysteries which can take a while to figure out as the game progresses.
You will be faced with many bosses across the nine realms, that will need Yggdrasil seeds to unlock. On one of these realms, you will find Vanadis, a boss whom you have to take down in order to finish the Backyard Brawl Achievement to collect a Bronze Trophy.

Atreus and Kratos face off against Vanadis who is a very formidable foe and you will need to be crafty in managing your health. Vanadis has three main forms of attack which are explained below:
- The yellow marker attacks have Vanadis swinging with her sword viciously which Kratos can block with his shield by using L1
- The red marker attacks see Vanadis jump attack Kratos using her fiery wings and trying to knock you off your feet.
- These attacks can cause plenty of damage so make sure you evade them as much as possible using X
- At various stages of the battle, Vanadis will spew poison pits across the battlefield.
- Make sure you are not touching them as they impact you over time and lead you to continuously lose health
These are some of the key aspects to remember during the fight, with Atreus also helping out in trying to negate the attacks. That will have an interesting consequence soon, as Vanadis seems to have taken the upper hand.
Throughout the fight, Atreus was trying to make Vanadis understand that they were on the same side. Towards the end, Kratos realizes that his opponent is actually Freya, a former friend.
Atreus sees his father on the verge of losing, and his emotions overcome him, transforming him into the big, grizzly bear whom you had met in the ‘A Grizzly Encounter’ achievement.
Kratos manages to subdue him, telling him that Freya is a past ally and he will have to control his emotions. Atreus does revert back to his normal self, and Freya stops the fight, before teaming up with Kratos to escape the realm.
Thus, that is all the information you will need in order to finish the ‘Backyard Brawl’ achievement. It starts off like a normal boss fight, but the revelation of the enemy being Freya is a major surprise.
Atreus will be sent home by Kratos before the remaining party carries on their journey. This battle will really be a tough one, in the beginning, so make sure you are making smart moves to survive and take the fight all the way to the conclusion.
