LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga | Fix Lag and Performance

In LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga you can play through all nine Skywalker saga films in a game unlike any other. With over 300 playable characters, over 100 vehicles, and 23 planets to explore, a galaxy far, far away has never been more fun!

In this guide, I have discussed all those issues which prevent you from enjoying the game smoothly. Most common performance issues and their fixes have been given here.

How-To Activate Mumble Mode

A quick and easy guide on how to enable mumble mode. To activate Mumble Mode, open up the game menu while playing – you can do this by pressing up on the d-pad, or the map button (TAB on PC). From here navigate to the far right menu which will be titled Extras (Last in the list, Question mark symbol).

Scroll down through the Datacards, and if you’ve not been playing for long, you’ll likely see Mumble Mode is the only option you can freely use from the start. Mumble Mode replaces every voiced dialogue with grunts and mumbles.

The actual story sequences themselves are not altered, however. This means that if a scene doesn’t have a visual gag, it won’t translate well to Mumble Mode. Mumble Mode can be enabled and disabled at any point.

How to fix low FPS and Game Crashing in the Menu [NVIDIA]

Two problems:

  • Either your specs are just not good enough to run it (check minimum requirements at the shop page)
  • Your PC runs the game with the integrated bad graphics card instead of the actual good one.

How to set the game to the right GPU
Since I only have an NVIDIA GPU I have no clue what AMD users should do, but the process should be similar. Search for NVIDIA Control Panel and open it. If you do not have it installed, get it here. Click on Manage 3D-Settings. Then click on Program Settings. Click on Add.

Search for the path where the .exe is located and then add the selected program. Make sure you have selected the right program and then change the preferred graphics processor to the High-performance one. Restart your PC and everything should be working. Hope this works for you and enjoy playing!

How to reduce your install size up to 8 GB by removing optional files

So, while taking a peek at the game files in pure curiosity, I stumbled upon localization files containing the audio dub for several languages. Turns out these are completely optional and the game boots fine without them, allowing you to shave off up to 8 gigs of your Lego Star Wars install.

To do so it’s very simple. Head to your install folder by right-clicking the game in your Steam library and clicking on “Browse local files”. In there you’ll find several files named “LP_LANGUAGE.DAT”. English is already in the base game file so there’s no way to delete it. You can remove any/all of them, so for example, if you wish to play with mumble mode or your language’s dub, you still can.

And that’s all there is to it really. I’m guessing they might come back whenever the game updates so it’s up to you to delete them or not. Enjoy the free-up storage space, and happy gaming!

How to Enable PS4 Controller Inputs/Prompts

For some reason, this doesn’t work out of the box, but I found a workaround.

Guide:

  1. Go to your Steam Library and Right-click on LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga. Then press on Properties
  2. Navigate to the Controller Tab:
  3. Select “Disable Steam Input”:
  4. Go to a DS4Windows Github page and download the latest version. Select either x86 (32Bit) or x64 (64bit) version: Link
  5. Select Profiles Tab and then Other Tab
  6. In Virtual Controller Settings select DualShock 4 to be the Emulated Controller:
  7. Save the Profile with any name:
  8. Go back to a Controllers Tab and set “Selected Profile” to be your named Profile, in my case its called “1”:

Launch the game and it’s done, enjoy Playstation Button Prompts instead of Xbox ones! Also if you are playing with a friend on Remote Play and he has Xbox Controller, it won’t break. He will have Xbox and you’ll have PlayStation ones.

Fix your game from reverting to 60hz when alt-tabbing

Here’s a quick guide to keeping your game from reverting to 60hz when alt-tabbing! This change will be permanent so you won’t have to do it again unless you change your resolution or Hz in your game settings.

  1. Make sure your game is closed
  2. Type %appdata% in your windows search bar
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO Star Wars – The Skywalker Saga
  4. Open the file called “PCCONFIG” with a notepad.
  5. Search for ScreenRefreshRate and change the number next to it to your desired Hz such as (60, 75, 120, 144, 165).
  6. Save the file after you have edited the number to your desired Hz.
  7. Close the notepad and folders.
  8. Start your game.

Hope this helps!

How to remove DoF

If you hate blur effects in games like me and want to disable the depth of field effect in the game, you can do so by going into the config file and changing the setting there.

You will find the config file in {DriveLetter}:\Users\{YourUser}\AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO Star Wars – The Skywalker Saga

Just open the PCCONFIG file with a text editor and change “DoFEnabled” to 0.

How To Get a Higher Refresh Rate

I have and probably a lot more people have noticed, if they have a higher refresh rate on their monitor than 60, the refresh rate lowers back to 60 every time you tab out or start up the game.

If you want to set it to where each time you start up the game and it goes to your monitor’s refresh rate, go to:

C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO Star Wars – The Skywalker Saga\PCCONFIG.TXT
And change the 60 at “ScreenRefreshRate” with your monitor’s refresh rate or to a refresh rate you want it to be at.

Vulture Droid Tracking Issue

This is a short guide to fix an issue where players cannot track vulture droids in the level “Now This Is Podracing!” in Episode I: The Phantom Menace. So, I was trying to 100% The Phantom Menace and was on the last level, “Now This Is Podracing!”

One of the challenges is to complete the level without your ship being destroyed. The way to progress through the level is to target 10 satellites, 10 turrets, and 10 vulture droids. The issue is that after destroying the satellites and the turrets, players are unable to track on to any of the vulture droids at all.

So issue is that since I entered the level in Free Play with The Mandalorian, the game didn’t allow me to target enemies until I switched to a “morally-good”/light-side character, such as Qui-Gon. That’s it, that’s all you need to do if you are struggling in this particular level.
