The Best Graphics Settings for FPS in OW2

Remember that these settings are for the Beta version of the game. If I see any significant changes in the final release of Overwatch 2, I will make sure to update this post. If not, the settings should remain the same.

Best Graphics Settings for OW2

These settings are relevant for users having GTX series cards like 1650, 1660, and 1050Ti and processors like i3, i5, or i7 12th gen/Ryzen 5 and 7 series. Take note that due to these conditions, the settings can vary by a small margin. The general settings should remain the same.

Display Mode: Fullscreen

(Unless exclusively stated, keep this to fullscreen for most PvP games)

Target Display

Best Match

Resolution

1920×1080 (60/144)* (This setting is based on the monitor you have. Keep it to the native res and refresh rate to avoid performance drops)

Field of View

103 (Since this is mainly a PvP game, the more visual clearance, the better. Hence FoV is kept at max)

Aspect Ratio: 16:9

Vsync

Off (Only useful when there is a screen tearing issue. Otherwise there is no point in keeping this ON)

Triple Buffering

Off (Improves the quality of V-Sync but in this case, not a good option for optimum performance and settings)

Reduce Buffering

Off (This can be a bit demanding for lower-end rigs. This one is optional, but keep this off for the time being)

Display Performance Stats

On (Depends on Preference. Mine is ON to track important stats)

Nvidia Reflex

Enabled + Boost (A great option for Online multiplayer. Reduces lag by a decent amount)

Display System Clock: Off

Limit FPS

Custom (Set the value to the maximum amount. You can also use Display Based which can also help with optimization)

Graphics Quality

Medium (Start by setting this to the medium. After this only a few changes are needed to be made to the advanced settings)

Render Scale

100% (Best scaling option for a clearer image)

High-Quality Upsampling: Default

Texture Quality

High (High gave me the best results without hampering much Framerates)

Texture Filtering Quality

Medium 2X (This is the sweet spot for most players which gives decent visuals)

Local FOG Detail: Medium

Dynamic Reflections: Off

Shadow Detail

Low (A big NO when it comes to online multiplayer. Can take up a lot of frames and compromise performance)

Model Detail

Medium (Adds detailing to player models like textures and detailing)

Effects Details

Low (Lower effects details can result in higher FPS and better performance for an intense PvP game like OW2)

  • Lighting Quality: Medium
  • Antialias Quality: Low – FXAA
  • Refraction Quality: Low
  • Screenshot Quality: 1X Resolution
  • Ambient Occlusion: Low
  • Local Reflections: ON
  • Damage FX: Default

Results and Tips for More FPS

I tested the game on a GTX 1660 with 16GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 3600 Processor. This should be your entry to a medium-end rig for this game.

If you happen to have a low-end system, try to lower the High settings to Medium. Most of your effects should be Off at all times to avoid FPS Drops.

Also, you can cap the framerate to your monitor’s refresh rate if you are facing screen tearing issues. This is particularly prevalent for Low-End systems like GTX 1050Ti and i3 8100.

For those of you having RTX 30 series cards like RTX 3050, RTX 3060Ti, 3070, or 3080, you can run the game at Ultra without any issues. The game is quite optimized for that.

Let me know your thoughts and how you are enjoying The Beta, and possibly in the future, the full release of Overwatch (OW) 2.
