Phasmophobia: Traits, Strengths and Weaknesses Of All The Ghost Types

Spirit

The most recurring ghost in the game, Spirits can still be very deadly. They’re usually found after an unexplained death, and can be delayed with Smudge Sticks. Evidence: Spirit BoxFingerprintsGhost Writing

Shade

Another common ghost, Shades are mostly shy, and will only hunt single players. As is common in Survival Horror games, being together will prevent deaths among the players, but also make it hard to find the Shade. Evidence: EMF Level 5FingerprintsGhost Writing

Poltergeist

The Poltergeist is known as a “noisy ghost” due to its ability to move objects around. This makes the poltergeist very deadly in a room full of items, but almost harmless in an empty one. Evidence: Spirit BoxFingerprintsGhost Orb

The Mare is the source of all nightmares, and is most powerful when it is dark. Turning on all the lights makes it less likely that the Mare will attack, however it’s known to turn them off and trip the breaker box. Evidence: Spirit BoxGhost OrbFreezing Temperatures

Phantom

The Wraith is one of the most dangerous ghosts in Phasmophobia. It’s a relentless hunter, has the ability to fly, and can move through walls. Its weakness is a toxic reaction to salt, which will prevent its attacks. Evidence: FingerprintsFreezing TemperaturesSpirit Box

Banshee

Another dangerous hunter, the Banshee will concentrate on one player at a time. It has a strong reaction to the Crucifix, meaning the item can be used at longer range. Evidence: EMF Level 5FingerprintsFreezing Temperatures

Revenant

Just like Chris Walker in Outlast, the Revenant is a violent ghost that will attack players indiscriminately. It moves much faster when on the hunt, but is very slow if Phasmophobia’s players are hiding from it. Evidence: EMF Level 5FingerprintsGhost Writing

Yurei

Many ghosts can’t attack until the player’s sanity drops low enough, but no ghost drops sanity faster than the Yurei. It’s a good thing they don’t come in numbers like the monsters in The Evil Within 2. This can make the Yurei very dangerous, but using Smudge Sticks on its room will prevent it from wandering. Oni

One of the most dangerous enemies in Phasmophobia, the Demon is highly aggressive and a crucifix is recommended to prevent hunts. On the plus side, it will allow ghost hunters to use the Ouija Board without a sanity cost. Evidence: Spirit BoxGhost WritingFreezing Temperatures
