World War Z: Aftermath How To Transfer Progress/Save File

World War Z: Aftermath is a co-op zombie shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film and the next evolution of the original hit World War Z. This game has over 15 Million worldwide players. A great feature in this game comes with Cross-play. Join up to three friends or play on your own with AI teammates against hordes of zombies in intense story episodes across new zombie-ravaged locations around the world. WWZ Aftermath is out on steam dating 21st September 2021. You can check that out here.

Now coming to the topic of this post, which is showing you how to transfer progress and save files from Epic Games Account to Steam Account. Kindly take note that the method which I will show is NOT the official way to do this. Since the developers have not provided us with any distinct method to transfer saves, I figured that I will explain that myself. Without further delay, let’s take a look…

To start off with, you need to locate where your save file is located for Epic games in order to transfer that. By default the location of the save should be: C: > Users > user profile > AppData > Local > Saber > WWZ > client > storage > slots. After you have navigated inside this folder, look for a file called user_progression.dat. The save file folder should look something like this:

Next, Open the Steam Cloud Directory for World War Z Aftermath or WWZ. The location for this should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\your steam user ID\699130\remote. Now, simply Delete the user_progression file inside the steam folder and replace it with the EGS user_progression.dat. Rename the file type from .dat to .cfg. Here is an example of the Steam Cloud Directory Folder where you will replace and rename as I said:

So, to sum it up [TLDR]:

  • Open Epic Games Save folder – C: > Users > user profile > AppData > Local > Saber > WWZ > client > storage > slots
  • Look for a file called user_progression.dat.
  • Copy this file and then Open the Steam Cloud Directory – C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\your steam user ID\699130\remote.
  • Delete the user_progression file located there. replace it with the EGS user_progression.dat
  • Change File type from .dat to .cfg
  • All done and good to go!

How To Delete Epic Games Account and Launcher

After you are done transferring, you may feel the need to delete either or both of these. In order to do that, go to the Epic Games Account Settings from your browser. There should be an option at the bottom of the screen to DELETE ACCOUNT. Click on that and it should send a verification code to your registered mail. Put in that code and you should be all done with the account part.

To delete Epic Games launcher, the procedure is very straightforward. Open the control panel and locate the Epic Games exe. Click on that and simply uninstall it if you wish to do so. And that is how you can delete an Epic account and Remove the launcher as well. I highly advise you to do this AFTER you are done transferring the saved files and progress to steam. This is completely optional and up to personal preference if you want to do it or not.
