The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Link and Zelda Relationship

One of the most intriguing storylines throughout the history of The Legend of Zelda has been the dynamic between Zelda and Link. Fans have been waiting for a long time to find out whether the two epic characters are romantically involved or just excellent friends.

While there have been some vital clues in Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword, the strongest confirmation can now be deduced from Tears of the Kingdom. There are some solid indications of them being romantically together, with the most significant takeaway being the pair living together at Link’s place within Hateno Village. So, what is going on here?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Are Link and Zelda in a Relationship?

Firstly, the primary thing to get clear in the beginning is that there is no official confirmation from the developers themselves. The only clues we have to go on are present in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay and storyline itself.

As expected, the most substantial clues are available through Link’s house within Hateno Village. It is the same house players bought and made in Breath of the Wild. The first clue here is that the house is now termed by villagers as Zelda’s house, with her noting in her diary, “my house.”

Players will also notice through the diary that Bolson had constructed another room at Zelda’s behest to balance the humidity. That room contains another clue of Link with his blue hair tie from Breath of the Wild (again!) present here. Of course, it can just mean that Zelda is storing parts of Link’s attire, but it could also suggest that the pair live together with clothing strewn around the place.

The diary also gives us our third clue, with Zelda stating that Link accompanies her to help others, which makes sense, given he is a protector. What is interesting here is that Zelda mentions that this has led to him ruining his tunic and she has stored it away in the throne room to give him some time in the future.

All of this raises the possibility of them living together, which leads her to find an alternative place to keep the tunic in the first place.

Most of the remaining hints are present within the house itself. The dining table is made for two people so that it could be for Link and her. Another fact is that the bed on the first floor seems larger, possibly meaning two people are living inside the house.

The bed in the house is also the only one within the village where Link can stay, and it is connected to how the house previously used to be his as well.

Thus, that is all the current information regarding this situation with Link and Zelda. Of course, Nintendo has not given any finality on the actual connection between the pair.

Nevertheless, these clues can help us narrow down to the fact that there may be more than friendship between two legendary characters in the gaming universe.
