In this guide for Palworld, I will show you where you can find the Save File and the Config Files for the game. You may need these files for a number of reasons, such as changing settings outside the game, saving saved games backups, and more.
Palworld – Save File and Config File Location
It is very important to know the locations for the save file and the config files. I personally want to back up my saves so that I can share it with friends or keep it as a backup. The Config Files help me force change the settings outside the in-game settings.
Palworld Save File Location
Take note that this should be the default location, and nothing has been changed. Here is the Save File Location for the game:
- This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > *Your Username* > AppData > Local > Pal > Saved > Savegames
There should be two files here. One is called “UserOption.sav” which is your saved option. The other one is a unique number specific to your settings. This contains the actual save times and files as the game saves it for you. You can access it from here.
You can share the files or take them from a friend and use their saves as well. Make sure to take a backup of the original files before changing anything. In case something goes wrong, simply restore the default files, and you should be fine.
Palworld Config File Location
I use Config Files to make some small changes in the game settings for testing and performance reasons. Your purpose can vary, but it is important to know its location. Here is the Config File Location:
- This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > *Your Username* > AppData > Local > Pal > Saved > Config > Windows
The file most players will look for is called “GameUserSettings,” which can be found in the above-said path. This is mainly used to change graphics settings outside the game or force change it.
Use these settings carefully since this can mess up a lot of things inside the game. It is highly recommended that you take a backup of the Config Files before tweaking any of them.
Here is a video that shows how to do these as well: [Video Link]
How To View AppData (Unhide it)?
To locate the above files, you need to open something called the “AppData” folder, which can be hidden for some of you. To unhide it, do the following (Windows 11):
- Go to “View”
- Head over to show.
- Now, simply tick the “Hidden Items” option.
You should now be able to see the AppData Folder without any issues. For Windows 10 users, the view option should be located in the above bar. The rest of the process remains similar so you should not have much trouble.
With the information given above, you should be able to locate as well as change the settings to your liking in Palworld. For more such posts, keep an eye on our Palword Guides page.
