We were excited about the latest installation of COD with the arrival of MW3. The game is finally out, and players are already enjoying it so far. Not all players have the same luxury of enjoying the game since there are significant hiccups.
One such issue is the Error Code error 0x00001338 (12488)N, causing the game to crash repeatedly. Players worldwide are frustrated with this error code and the overall game not launching at all for most of them.
Here are some suggestive solutions, which I will list down, that can hopefully fix your launch and error code issue until the developers can get it patched from their end.
COD MW3 – Error Code 0x00001338 (12488)N -How To Fix
When players try to launch the COD MW3 from the Steam Launcher, they are facing this error code called 0x00001338 (12488)N. Eventually, the game crashes without warning or anything, leaving them stranded. Here are some frustrated players who are facing this issue:
Player HexenDot says that he has tried everything, and it is to no avail so far:
bro what do i do ive
reinstalled the game
verified integrity 10 times
deleted the cod documents folder
cleared steam download cache
updated graphics driver
gave it more process priority
Steam user Hunids replies with:
yeah same issue here. press start and wont launch! tried everything and still nothing?
Whereas some players like yutotsuda33 say:
I don’t know how to fix this. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Potential Fixes to Error Code 0x00001338 (12488)N in MW3
- First, Locate Call of Duty in your Steam Library and right-click on it.
- Next, Click on “Properties”. It will open up the following Window:
Click on the option that says “DLC” and enter that menu. Now, Uncheck the “COD Warzone” from the list of DLCs available.
This is basically the process of Uninstalling Warzone from the list of COD Series. As reported by several players, this has successfully resolved their issue of COD MW3 not launching or giving the said error code.
You can try the rest of the fixes, which I will list, but honestly, these are just some basic fixes that you should only try if the above method did not work for you:
- Update the Graphics Driver to the latest one.
- Update Windows to the newest version.
- C++ and Framework update is also needed if not done.
- Verify the Integrity of game files. If any file is missing or corrupted, it will be downloaded.
I personally have Warzone installed, and it is not giving me any issues so far. But yes, if you face this issue, make sure to remove Warzone until the devs decide to patch it anytime soon. I hope you can play the game properly after doing this fix.
