Welcome to the quick and easy guide to bypassing the pesky “Connecting to Epic Online Services” bug in Dead Island 2! Guide To Fix Connecting To Epic Online Services In Dead Island 2

Quick and Easy Solution for Resolving Epic Services Connection Problems

Resolving the connectivity glitches with Epic Services is a breeze with this quick and straightforward solution. Like many, you might have eagerly linked your accounts to Epic Services upon first booting up the game, only to be met with the frustrating cycle of “connecting to Epic Online Services.”

But fear not! This guide is your saving grace. Although resources were scarce on this matter, I’ve crafted a brief and easy-to-follow tutorial to help you rectify the issue swiftly. It’ll only take you 2 minutes to implement.

Here are some quick steps:

  1. Visit Epic Games at store.epicgames.com.
  2. Hover over your profile icon located in the top right corner of the screen, then click on “account.”
  3. Look for the section labeled “Apps and Accounts.”
  4. Since you’ve linked your Steam account with Epic, this is where you’ll find the solution.
  5. Proceed to unlink Steam from this section.

Once you’ve completed the steps, proceed to launch Dead Island 2 as you usually would.

You’ll encounter a message prompting you to connect your account to Epic Services.

I strongly recommend simply clicking ESC and disregarding it to avoid encountering this issue again in the future. Unless, of course, you want to find yourself back in this same situation.

Confirming Unlinking of Linked Accounts

When you opt to unlink your Steam Account via Epic Games, you’ll receive a confirmation warning. In short, confirming means you’ll indeed unlink it for the duration you choose. Should you wish to reconnect your account later on, whether it’s with the same or a different Epic Games Account, you have that option.

Just check the four boxes, remove the account, and you’re set to proceed.

This process has been personally verified by me.

Should you decide to attempt linking them again in the future, you can do so within the settings.

Other Launch Issues – How To Fix

Step 1: Uninstall Epic Online Service

Begin by uninstalling the “Epic Online Service” associated with Dead Island 2. After uninstallation, attempt to launch the game. It may prompt you to reinstall the service again, which is normal.

Step 2: Modify DeadIsland.ini

File Navigate to the Dead Island 2 directory on your computer: “C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dead Island 2”. Here, locate and delete the “EpicGameLauncher” folder. Next, open the “DeadIsland.ini” file using Notepad. Look for the line “NoOperation=0” and change it to “NoOperation=1”.

Step 3: Unlink Steam Account (Optional)

If the issues persist, you can try unlinking your Steam account from Epic Games. Access your Epic Games Account settings and follow the prompts to unlink your Steam account. Note that you can relink the same account later if needed.

Step 4: Launch Dead Island 2

With the modifications and potential account unlinking done, attempt to launch Dead Island 2 again through Steam. With any luck, you should bypass any previous errors and successfully reach the game’s main menu.
