Minecraft Legends: How To Fix Crashing At Launch Problem

The Minecraft series of games is much loved worldwide with its building gameplay and variety of mechanics. The recent launch of Minecraft Legends has further brought players to a new world of adventure and tactics.

While it is only on PC (via Steam) and Xbox (via Xbox Game Pass), the game is already earning positive reviews. The familiarity of the game overall helps players dive into it quickly, but there have been some problems. As is the case with any new game, there are some technical issues, with Minecraft Legends crashing at launch being one of them.

Minecraft Legends: How to fix crashing at launch problem

A new game crashing while being launched is not an unfamiliar problem. Many players have gone through this issue over the years, and some fixes can be applied to solve it. While some players may see the resolution with only one fix, others may require a combination of the fixes to get their game sorted. Nevertheless, everyone’s Minecraft Legends should be up and running soon.

Updating GPU Drivers

Players will want to ensure they have the newest and most recent GPU drivers for their graphics card as it will make the gaming experience the smoothest. If you run an incompatible graphics card or an outdated one, the game will crash during launching, which none of us wants.

Therefore, players should head over to the companies’ respective websites and check the version of their drivers.

Anti-Virus Exception

It can often happen that your system’s anti-virus protection will be blocking your game’s launch as it may appear to be posing a threat. That is why players must add Minecraft Legends to the list of “exceptions” for the respective anti-virus software so it will not stop your game in the future and ensure a smooth start.

Verifying the game files

One of the earliest steps players should take whenever they encounter this kind of problem. This is because the files can get problematic during installation or while downloading, leading to them not working correctly.

That is why players must verify the integrity of the game files, irrespective of whether they have them on Steam or Xbox.

Steam: Players must open the game library and right-click on Minecraft Legends. Choose Properties and click on the Local Files tab. Now select “Verify integrity of game files…“. Once the process is over, restart the game.

Update the game

Closely linked with the previous step, players can update Minecraft Legends from their respective providers.

Steam: Go to Minecraft Legends in the game library and choose Properties. Click on the Updates tab and change the ‘Automatic Updates‘ option to ‘High Priority.’ This will ensure that the game downloads the latest updates, now and in the future.

Xbox App: Start the application and go to Minecraft Legends within the Installed tab. Once again, choose the option with three dots and click on Manage. Under the FILES tab, you will find the option “CHECK FOR UPDATES.”

Update Windows

Another common problem is that players must check their system to be fully updated to the latest version. You can check for updates via the option in the Settings menu, which has the Windows Update. It will check your system to make sure it is updated.

Choosing the dedicated GPU

NVIDIA GPU: Go to the Nvidia Control Panel and 3D Settings. In the Manage 3D Settings tab, go into Program Settings and select Minecraft Legends. Choose the desired GPU for the game from the list. Ensure you can see the high-performance Nvidia processor and save the changes before exiting.

AMD GPU: Go to Radeon Settings and then Preferences. You will see Power and Switchable Graphics Application Settings in the Additional Settings. Choose Minecraft Legends; if it is not there, you must add the game.

Inside the Graphics Settings, give Minecraft Legends high-performance priority

Update DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributables

Players should make sure that both these applications are on their latest versions. That is why you can check the updates, and if you do not have the current version, download it for the game, and it will be ready.

Thus, that is all the information players will need to fix the crash-at-launch issue for Minecraft Legends. It can be irritating when it happens, but the fixes will be enough to solve the problem and ensure it does not happen again.
