Apex Legends Badware Error (0x8000002) – Possible Fixes

The best mode event is finally out and players cannot wait to get into the game to try it out. A hefty 5GB update is what it takes, but this also came with a set of issues for players worldwide. While launching the game, it is showing an Error, usually denoted by a badware with the code 0x8000002.

There are a few possible fixes for this, some of which worked for us personally, so we decided to list them so that they can help the community as well.

Possible Fixes for Badware Error (0x8000002) in Apex Legends

Apex Legends badware error code

Take note that this guide is not limited to this error code alone. You can try these methods to fix any such error you face after a big patch update. For now, try it for this patch only.

Uninstalling Daemon Tools or Lite Version

This fix worked for us personally as well as a lot of legends in the community. Simply go to control panel and uninstall any version of Daemon Tools you may have. We had the lite version to test it, and once it was removed, the game launched without many issues.

If you are having issues uninstalling it from the control panel, use an uninstalled like “revo uninstaller” to remove it completely from your system, including all the residual files.

Verify Integrity of Apex Files

This is the good old verification method that may or may not work for you. At this point, this is a staple fix everyone tries, so you should give this a go as well. It is highly unlikely this will fix it for you, but if you are missing some game files, it will download and patch it for you.

Update Your GPU Drivers

In the highly unlikely chance that you have not updated your GPU driver in ages, do update it at the earliest not just for Apex Legends, but for most games you are playing or will play. This will save you a lot of effort and time in troubleshooting simple problems.

Updating Windows

Windows updates have become mandatory for gaming nowadays because the redistributable files and the .NET framework most game use needs a Windows update. To ensure that you are safe from your side, and for the sake of running Apex Legends smoothly, update your Windows to the latest version.

Re-Install EAC

There are chances that the EA-Anti cheat is conflicting with a software you are using. Usually it is with those torrent EXE’s or a file without a trace print. In such cases, re-installing EAC can solve your issues not just for this error but for any future error codes or server connection failures (Given that it is not already down from EA!)

As a last resort, either reach out to the EA Support (High chances of not getting a reply directly) or wait for a patch from the developers (This is the easiest fix XD). Jokes aside, waiting for a patch is the best thing to do if nothing is working for you since this is a global issue as of now, and they will push a patch to address it.

Thanks for reading. Happy gaming Legends!
