How to get out of the jail in Destiny 2 Warlord’s Ruin

After defeating the first boss of Warlord’s Ruin Dungeon, players find themselves ensnared in a seemingly inescapable jail. Fear not, as we are here to guide you step by step on how to break free from the clutches of the jail in Destiny 2 Warlord’s Ruin.

How To Get Out Of Jail In Destiny 2 Warlord’s Ruin

The Jail Puzzle:

My Fireteam and I encountered a significant roadblock at the jail section of Destiny 2 Warlord’s Ruin. With perseverance and strategic thinking, we finally cracked the code to escape.

Depending on the number of players in your Fireteam, you’ll be distributed into different cells within the jail. Teamwork is key to breaking out of this confinement.

Rotating the Wheels:

Within the jail, there are six rotators strategically placed around the room. These wheels, when shot, rotate either clockwise, counter-clockwise, or come to a halt. Depending on the number of players, the visibility of these rotators varies. Solo players can see all six, while Fireteams may only spot two or three. Here are the general locations:

  1. The top exterior of the corner cell facing the river
  2. The top exterior of the corner cell facing the far cell
  3. Far-right wall when looking through the corner cell
  4. Far-right wall when looking through the ceilingless cell
  5. Top exterior right of the ceilingless cell
  6. The top exterior of the far corner cell

Reading the Tally Marks:

The two players in the far cells (everyone except the middle cell player) must observe and interpret the tally marks found in or near their cells. These tally marks, depicted as white lines with skeletons pointing toward them, represent crucial information for the puzzle solution.

Each player’s tally marks are unique and randomized. In my game, my cell had a skeleton pointing to four tally marks, while my teammate had two. It’s imperative to communicate and share this information with your Fireteam.

Solving the Puzzle:

Now armed with tally mark information, your team must mirror the counts by rotating the wheels clockwise and counter-clockwise.

The specific location of the rotators is irrelevant; focus on achieving the correct count for each direction. For instance, if you have four tally marks going counter-clockwise and two going clockwise, rotate the wheels accordingly.

The basic solution to the Jail Puzzle is that whatever Tally Mark count comes up, have those number of wheels going clock or anti-clockwise and the other one going in the opposite direction compared to the first. For example:

  • If the Tally shows 5 and 1
  • Have 5 wheels going clock or anti-clockwise and the 1 going clock or anti-clockwise depending on what you decide for the previous set of tallies

Freeing Yourself:

Once confident in your wheel adjustments, have the player in the middle cell shoot the switch outside the ceilingless cell. If your calculations are accurate, the gates will swing open, liberating your Fireteam.

In my game, we initially tried four clockwise and two counter-clockwise without success. After adjusting to four counter-clockwise and two clockwise, we successfully broke free. Experiment with both configurations and, most importantly, communicate effectively to avoid missteps.

Conclusion:

Mastering the escape room puzzle in Destiny 2 Warlord’s Ruin requires teamwork, observation, and effective communication.

By locating the rotators, deciphering tally marks, and strategically adjusting the wheels, you can successfully break free from the jail and continue your journey through this exhilarating dungeon. May your Fireteam’s coordination guide you to victory!
