After the recent release of New World, the number of players ramped up to an all-time best of 400K +. Even though the game is getting mixed reviews, people are not hesitant to give it a go.
That is all thanks to its mechanics and typical MMO-type gameplay which will attract a lot of its players. But what if you cannot even get past the first loading screen?
This is also an issue that the community is facing lately. The game keeps crashing on startup or it may run for 30 seconds or so and then close. In this post, I will tell you some possible solutions to fix this issue.
How To Fix Black Screen Crash in New World
First of all, let’s take a look at the exact issue the community is facing to address the issue:
Having a HUGE issue where I cant even load the game the moment I press Play on Steam. Computer Crashes completely and restarts. No Blue Screen, Nothing, just goes black and restarts.
I tried everything I could think of to solve the problem and even checked forums so any help would be great.
- I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, even checked the integrity of the Local Files on Steams Properties tab for the game. Integrity was ok with no issues.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Nvidia Drivers. I have their latest and greatest.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the Anti-Cheat. I loaded the game with it uninstalled and again with it reinstalled. Still nothing.
- Made the launcher to Run as Administrator and it crashed again.
I have a high end computer. Latest and greatest with a 20 series graphics card and a Ryzen 9 with 32gb ram. If my computer cant run it then nothing can basically.
I’m a mouse click away from getting a refund but would really like to enjoy the game so any help would be welcomed.
This was quoted by steam user SamMAVRS. You can clearly see from the above quote that the user has tried a number of troubleshooting tips including running as admin, re-installing NVIDIA Drivers, re-installing anti-cheat services, and other possible fixes. But all of these to no avail since they did not work.
But after going through multiple forums I found out that the issue is not the hardware itself but the software driving that. You may be wondering, how I came to this conclusion.
Well, It was all thanks to this quote made by a steam user named Arkainin. Here’s what he had to say:
Was 100% the bios issue for me. So go DL a program like CPU-Z to find your exact Motherboard model and bio version, then go to their website to see if you are updated.
Mine was a year out of date. I guess Easy Anti Cheat just sucks so hard that it crashes you if you’re not bios current.
The Actual Fix
If you have tried everything else, and still facing crashing and black screen issues in New World, A BIOS Update of your motherboard may fix the issue. The issue here is with the Easy Anti-Cheat and the BIOS Settings itself.
For some reason, the anti-cheat keeps restarting or crashing the PC if it finds out that you are running on an old BIOS setting. Hence If you are facing issues on EAC games specifically, then try out updating BIOS first then do the rest of the Re-install, uninstall which other websites mention all the time.
Here is the proof that the BIOS update actually works for EAC players, as quoted by Reddit user Jessplayn:
My computer kept rebooting when I tried to play Rust, and let me tell you I tried everything! (We did a piece by pice replacement of parts from my brothers build) and nothing, absolutely nothing worked. So I decided to just play something else and ended up clicking
Fall Guys and it did the same thing. I knew then it had to be related to Easy Anti Cheat, so I searched for multiple games with EAC that crashed and found this. I’ve got the same Motherboard and the Bios update cured it.
That is all I had to share in order to fix New World Not launching on startup or crashing at Black Screen. Do let me know if this post has helped you to fix the issue as well.
