Players who are enjoying the newly launched Sons of the Forest have been managing a lot of tasks all at once. You will have to gather food, find resources, set up your bases for protection, and explore the island all over.
Players will have to be mindful of the seasons and the surroundings around them as they can be severely challenging. You will have help from companions like Kelvin and Virginia so use their advice wisely.
Given the huge array of items on offer, players will need to know what all can be used at what points in time. In that regard, the following guide will help players in understanding how to collect turtle shells and use them.
Sons of the Forest: How and Where to find Turtle Shells
As most of us are familiar, turtles live around beaches and that is the same in the game as well. Players have to move around the coastlines on the North, South, East, and West of the island to come across many turtles, especially where the water is just reaching the beach.
The closest location when you begin the game will be near the plane crash itself when you start Sons of the Forest. Once you come across a few turtles, there is no other way to have the shell from them other than killing it.
However, do keep in mind that not every turtle will have a shell that can be used by you or added to your Inventory. Therefore, players may have to take down a few of them before eventually getting the shell.
You will require an axe or a spear to hack at the turtle before it eventually dies. Players can then interact with the turtle and once the shell is in the Inventory, you will be able to check it out at the top right of the screen.
The other great benefit of dismembering turtles is that players will be able to have their meat and keep it for when they get hungry later on in the game.
Sons of the Forest: What to use Turtle Shells for?
Having collected turtle shells, players will need to know how they can best use it. You can make use of the shells to gather water from any rivers or ponds. However, players will not be able to keep it for later on, meaning you will have to drink it as soon as they collect it.
The other use of turtle shells in the game is sledding, meaning you can go down slopes very quickly and even race your friends in co-op mode.
Back in 2014, The Forest had another purpose for the usage of turtle shells in order to craft a rainwater collecting object. So far, the sequel does not have such an item or any other crafting for the turtle shell. Nevertheless, given the early access nature of the game, there is hope that more such features will be added soon and then players will have more things to do.
Thus, that is all the information players will need when it comes to the turtle shells and their importance in the game. It is a handy item to have from time to time and you should be having a few in stock just in case.
