DREDGE – How To Read The Panic Eyeballs

This is a Basic Sanity/Panic Guide on the game Dredge and just what the title says, nothing fancy. In here you will be able to decode the eyeballs which are a sort of meter indicating Panic in the game. Check out the details from below.

Decoding the Panic Eyeballs in Dredge

This game explains that staying out late has consequences, and many of the tooltips also hint at it. But, if you’re new to the genre and don’t know anything about eldrich/Lovecraftian horror, here’s what you need to know.

Sanity

A sanity meter is present. It manifests itself in various ways throughout many games, but it is always present. The theory is that the more you see, the more you lose your mind or sanity. And if you’re a fisherman in this game, you’ll witness many things.

Panic is the name given to Sanity in this game, and it appears to be driven primarily by nighttime and the mind-boggling spells you learn to cast as you go through the plot. You can also read books to minimize the adverse effects as the game goes, so it’s not all horrible.

On the Graphic User Interface or GUI, the overlay on top of the gameplay, there is an item in the center of the screen that shows the time of day and your status. Usually, nothing is spectacular in that top space, at least not during the day.

And there’s nothing in some games because it’s The Premium Spot, as some would say, but also the most useless waste of space, as others would. Welcome to video games, where there is no right or wrong way to do anything; everything is incorrect.

The Eye: Decoding Its Signals

Yet, as time passes and it becomes darker, some items begin to appear, causing the space in the upper middle of the screen to bingle. Then there’s an eye. It starts out blue, and blue eye implies it’s getting late and a little dangerous, so grab on to your trousers.

If you stay out, the eye may turn green, indicating that we’re approaching danger. That isn’t nearly that awful yet, but you shouldn’t be seeing eyeballs in the first place, do you? So, what are you doing out here if you don’t have a solid reason?

Brown is your last and final warning. If you see this eye, you should stop fishing and go for a nearby port to spend the night.

PANIC is represented by the colour red. It means you have every right to stress out. This may signify the game is done, but the red eye has stages as well. If the eye turns red, you’re not completely out of luck.

You will acquire items obstructing your view, making detecting safe spaces or anything else challenging. The deeper you go, the stranger it becomes. Such as distorted eyesight and dozens of red eyeballs flashing in and out of focus.

This is the point at which external influences such as your skill and location may have some effect, so depending on where you are, you may be acceptable or completely screwed unless something is following you. But common reason tells us to get out.

That’s all we have for you in this Dredge guide. If you found it helpful, leave a comment to let me know. Thank you for reading!
