Advanced Tips & Tricks Guide For Fields of Mistria
Anti-Rock Slime Propaganda: How to Deal with Those Pesky Mine Creatures
In Fields of Mistria, combat isn’t the main focus, but when it does rear its head, it can be a bit frustrating—especially with the dreaded rock slimes.
These round creatures in the mines shoot rocks or ore at you, and despite your sword’s power, they seem impervious, taking only 1 damage per hit while dealing much more to you. Here’s the secret: Hit the rocks back at them. Timing is key, but if done correctly, this strategy will deal significantly more damage than just swinging away blindly.
As you progress past the water seal, the challenge increases. You’ll encounter a rock slime that shoots two rocks in quick succession. To succeed, you’ll need to be close and time your swing just right to hit the first rock back before the second one is launched. Alternatively, you can dodge the first rock and focus on hitting the second one. It’s all about finding the rhythm that works best for you.
The Mysterious Chicken Statue: Unlocking the Power of Shiny Beads
Have you noticed the chicken statue near Hayden’s farm? It’s just down from his farm, under the slope leading to the museum area. The statue has an offering bowl that hints at shiny beads, but it’s not immediately clear what they are or how to get them.
To make offerings, you’ll need to unlock the Currency of Care ranching skill from the dragon statue. This skill allows animals that eat crops to drop shiny beads.
You can feed the crops to them directly or let them graze on fully grown crops left in the ground. Each crop gives 2 beads (3 if you have both Currency of Care skills).
But crops aren’t the only way to get beads. Animals will also drop beads when hand-fed, but they’ll only give 1 bead per feed. I’ve only tested this with basic forage feed, but better feed might yield more. There’s also an option to feed them cooked food for potentially greater rewards.
You can offer the beads to the chicken statue in batches of 10 or 100. Offering 10 beads might give you random dishes or rare items like golden milk, while 100 beads could yield even more valuable items like golden cheese wheels or mid-tier feed. Be warned, though—the rewards can be random, so it’s a bit of a gamble.
I’m currently tracking my offerings and their results, so stay tuned for a more comprehensive list. If you’ve discovered anything interesting, feel free to share it!
Clay, Sod, and Peat: Essential Resources for Early Crafting
These three resources—clay, sod, and peat—are crucial for crafting early in the game, but they can be tricky to find. The key is to dig! You’ll find these materials in the same dig spots that produce artifacts.
Another way to gather these resources is by unlocking a skill that grants biome-specific items from breaking rocks in the mines.
If you’ve found a more efficient method, let me know!
Crop Safety: Protect Your Precious Harvests
Your crops are in danger! Did you know that your animals can and will eat fully grown crops left outdoors? Fences won’t stop chickens, so be sure to harvest your crops before letting your animals out.
If you’ve unlocked the Currency of Care skill, animals will give you shiny beads after eating your crops, but if you’re more interested in preserving your harvest, make sure to either keep your animals indoors or harvest your crops as soon as they’re ready.
Dropped Items: Littering in Mistria? No Problem!
In Fields of Mistria, items left on the ground don’t disappear immediately. They’ll stick around for several days, though it’s unclear if they vanish with the change of seasons. This means you can gather dig spots, fish, bugs, and forage, and drop them on the ground to collect later. This trick also allows forage to regrow.
So if your inventory is full, don’t worry! Just drop those items and come back for them when you’re ready.
Monster Drops: Collecting Materials for Crafting
Even if combat isn’t your favorite aspect of Fields of Mistria, you’ll need to engage in it to gather materials for crafting. Here’s a breakdown of monster drops by floor level:
Level 1-19:
- Slimes: Sap, Monster Fang
- Rock Slimes: Rocks, Ore (if wearing an ore hat), Monster Shells
- Lanterns: Glass, Monster Core
- Red Mushrooms: Monster Powder, Red Toadstool
Level 20 And Above
- Green Mushrooms: Monster Powder, Cave Mushroom
- Stalagmites: Monster Horn
These drops are essential for creating cute furniture and progressing in the story, so be sure to stock up as you explore the mines.
Birthday Celebrations: What to Expect on Your Special Day
Happy birthday! But what does it mean in Fields of Mistria? As of the initial Early Access release, not much—but you do receive a nice letter and a gift from any villagers with whom you have four hearts or more.
On my birthday, Reina and Adeline—both at Four Hearts—gave me cooked dishes. I’m assuming non-romanceable villagers will also give gifts, but it’s unclear if these will always be food-related.
That’s all for now! As I continue my journey in Fields of Mistria, I’ll keep updating this guide with new tips and discoveries. If you’ve found anything worth sharing, drop a comment below. Let’s make this guide the ultimate resource for all Mistria farmers! Happy farming!
