If you’re unsure of the requirements, unlocking the Persona 5 Royal Third Semester may seem like a hard endeavor. However, this work really couldn’t be any simpler.
While there were a lot of hypotheses put forth immediately upon the JRPG’s original PS4 release in 2020, we now have had enough time to discover the exact requirements.
Unlocking The 3rd Semester In Persona 5 Royal
There are several reasons why you should unlock the new Third Semester in Persona 5 Royal. The addition of a third-tier evolution for each Phantom Thief’s Personas and a new palace is all part of Royal, which also has an expanded plot and better quality-of-life features.
The main benefit of playing Royal over the original Persona 5 is lost if you are unable to unlock it. Naturally, we still have to go there first, which is no easy task for a JRPG that requires more than 100 hours to complete.
It’s important to keep in mind that obtaining Persona 5 Royal’s True Ending also requires unlocking Persona 5 Royal’s Third Semester, which overlaps quite a bit. One does not exist without the other.
We’ll go into more detail below, where you will be able to know a few crucial things in this guide. On this page, you’ll discover:
- What are the Third Semester unlock conditions for Persona 5 Royal?
- What else is there to do in the Third Semester of Persona 5 Royal?
What are the Third Semester unlock conditions for Persona 5 Royal?
Unlocking Royal’s Third Semester requires obtaining Persona 5’s original True Ending. Without giving away the ending, you must select the first response during the interrogation sequences, make it to the last dungeon, and decline Joker’s offer.
Prior to November 17, you must achieve Rank 9 for Dr. Maruki, the Councillor Confidant. We advise giving him priority over other Confidants because he is the only Confidant who is necessary for unlocking this and who is not available to visit over the summer.
If you don’t get to Rank 9, Royal completely excludes you from the Third Semester and gives you the original Persona 5’s True Ending instead.
Before entering the third semester, it is important to keep in mind Kasumi (the Faith Confidant) and Akechi (the Justice Confidant).
Both Social Links are optional, although Kasumi’s Social Link will be locked out for the duration of the game if she is not at Rank 5 by December 22.
A further post-credits scene can be accessed by raising Akechi to Rank 8 by November 17.
What else is there to do in the Third Semester of Persona 5 Royal?
There are various special opportunities in the third semester, such as the third evolution of your teammates’ Personas. When you reach Rank 10 on their initial Social Link and max it out, their Personas change into their second form, making this available.
When you’ve finished, arrange to see them again in January to start the third evolution. It goes without saying that spending time with all six Thieves (Morgana, Akechi, and Kasumi excluded) will reduce the number of free days you have.
Toranosuke Yoshida is the only Confidant that Joker cannot rank above (Sun Confidant). If you miss his deadline of November 17, you can still complete all of the tasks in the main game. The Third Semester of Persona 5 Royal is fun!
