Who does not love some racing action on a variety of vehicles? Well, fans are in luck with the brand new MX vs. ATV Legends game launched already. Players have a myriad of choices from bikes, ATVs, UTVs, and more.
There are also several options to bring your friends into the action and compete against them for the ultimate prizes. The game has an open-world vibe, with various ways to play every type of multiplayer setting.
Of course, there is a normal career mode which you play solo, and can hone your skills in it. Once set, the multiplayer options are the way to go. The following guide will help players in learning all about the multiplayer modes.
MX vs. ATV Legends: What is the Multiplayer mode?
You can choose whether you set the game in between your friends, or you want online multiplayer. However, there is no cross-play across devices, so all your friends have to be on the same type of device.
Nevertheless, there is the added bonus of being able to play across the different generations of consoles like Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S or PS4 and PS5. Here also, players on Xbox or PlayStation cannot play against each other.
The same is the case for players on the PC who have purchased the game through Steam. A big benefit of playing multiplayer is the game has split-screen option on local co-op for all systems.
The main difference in online and local multiplayer is the total number of players who can be present in the same lobby while a race is on. Online multiplayer with friends gives 16 players, which is based on squads.
This is where the game’s Compound Mode comes in handy, as the Race Online mode is for normal online multiplayer action. Likewise, local co-op only permits two players on one console to play the game together.
MX vs. ATV Legends: How to play
Players have to hit pause on the game as you open the single-player mode, before choosing Split-Screen from the main menu. Now you have the second player’s screen, who appears on the screen at some distance away from the first player. For the race, choose Exhibition from the pause menu and select your track.
While playing among friends in the online multiplayer, choose Online from the main menu before going for Race Online or Squad Compound. Having selected one of them, pause the game and choose Squad Management.
Now you can add Gamertags, PSN, and Steam IDs for everyone to join. When everyone joins, go back to the Squad Compound or Exhibition and keep on playing.
